Sleep Apnea is a condition in which breathing is repeatedly interrupted during sleep. Our client is a Sleep Apnea Solutions provider, they conduct sleep studies to diagnose whether the patient has sleep apnea or not and then advise them with suitable therapy. With 40+ branches located all over Australia, they are currently using Bizman to manage their work and looking for some updates in the new version.

Challenge & Solution

Challenge:
Sleep study is the main feature of the platform (a test to diagnose whether the patient has sleep apnea or not and then advise them with suitable therapy). This involves multiple specialists (admin, physicians, consultants, technicians, and sleep scientists), each responsible for a specific step in the process. Each role can only work on their part once the previous step is completed, and they must not see information unrelated to their responsibilities.

Solution:
I designed a single, unified interface for the sleep study details, divided into clear sections with status indicators for each stage. Each role only sees the part relevant to them, and a section becomes visible and actionable only after the previous role completes their step. This created a streamlined, secure, and easy-to-follow workflow for all users involved.

My Process

As the only designer on the team – and without a BA or PO – I was responsible for analyzing all client requirements and materials, including their outdated existing platform.

I began by thoroughly reviewing all documents to understand the business needs and workflow, then explored the current platform to map the existing user journey. I documented usability issues and unclear actions, identifying areas for improvement in the new version.
From there, I created the updated user flow and designed the new interface, collaborating closely with developers to ensure the approach was technically feasible. I then presented the design to the project manager and built a prototype to help the client visualize the experience. After several rounds of feedback and refinement, the client approved the new design and it moved into development.
I continued supporting the team by breaking features into user stories and clarifying complex interactions throughout the process.

REFERRAL DASHBOARD

A dashboard for doctor to create and have an overview of their referrals

At the referral dashboard, doctors can click Create referral to refer their patients to the clinic. Also, they can have an overview of all the patients’ status they've referred, whether it has been approved or rejected.

Single page form to create referral

A single-page form may be intimidating but suitable for a doctor-patient setup since they can have a natural conversation with the patient and fill in the details as they go. On the other hand, the fields have been grouped into categories so the doctor can easily categorize the information that needs to be asked.

All the sleep studies will be shown on this page. Each sleep study card has an overview of its important details so that the employee can easily skim the information.

On the Sleep study details page, the employee can view all of the information about the sleep study. However, they can only see the sleep study that requires their action depending on the sleep study's status.
